ALL ABOUT TESTING
Frequently when I see clients their symptoms are like pieces of a puzzle and easy to put together. I often make recommendations based upon symptoms and in a month or so touch base. If things appear to be improving, I will say carry on and let’s re-evaluate things in 3 month’s time. With others, the pieces are more difficult to put together and testing is always an option. It is also an option if someone is not responding to the changes recommended. In the scenario of a perimenopausal women, hormones are fluctuating daily if not hourly. I often do not recommend hormone testing of estrogen and progesterone in this population during this time. That said, some people like to see numbers and we can certainly try to get a snap shot into what’s going on.

There are a number of tests that can be conducted through saliva, blood spot and urine. Testing will be discussed during your initial consultation.

If someone is suffering from lingering mood disorders, a Neurotransmitter panel of tests from dried urine can give so much information as to the levels of important neurotransmitters such as Serotonin, GABA, Epinephrine etc. Results can guide a practitioner to targeted treatments.

Testing admittedly can be expensive but the information provided is invaluable.

URINE METABOLITE TEST
This is the most comprehensive look at all your hormones!
ZRT LABORATORIES

Hormones that don’t break down properly in the body can increase the risk for certain cancers – like breast cancer.
Urinary hormone metabolites testing provides a unique diagnostic view that no other hormone testing offers.
Because it assesses both parent hormones and their corresponding metabolites, it reveals how the body is breaking down key hormones like estrogens, progestogens, androgens, cortisol and melatonin.
This testing gives insight into whether we are fully detoxifying our hormones, which is important because some hormones can be carcinogenic if they don’t break down properly – leaving us more at risk for a variety of diseases, like cancer.
requires 4 urine samples, collected over a period of two days, eliminating the need for a cumbersome 24-hour collection.
